Cine Transfer

We can transfer the following cine formats to a printed DVD, hard drive, SD card or USB stick to preserve your memories:

There are extra options including titling, editing and the addition of music if the film is silent. We have a very disciplined procedure in dealing with your treasured reels of film, some of which can be very delicate and fragile and because of age be in poor condition.

Firstly the film is logged, labelled and inspected. The film is rewound if required, repaired to re-splice any breaks and new leaders added if necessary. It is then cleaned using a proprietary film emulsion solution to remove any grease and dirt that may have accumulated over the years and to lubricate the surface. Once transferred to a digital format, using a professional telecine process, the footage is colour corrected and the shutter breaks removed. The film is further edited and authored before being burnt to disc or encoded to a file format. A master copy is kept for your security and to enable you to order future copies.

Our cine film conversion process (telecine) scans the original film using a system imported from the USA. The images are scanned from the sharper emulsion side of the film via a precision condenser lens. An enlarged gate allows access to 100% of the film resulting in no degradation of the original resolution. A no heat, super bright LED light source is used through a custom sprocketless drive. This protects your film from the potential damage typically found on other transfer methods and indeed from the original projectors of the day. The end result can be a flicker free image that is sharp, corner to corner, with no hot spots but it is of course still dependent on the original film attributes.
